Ben Sorensen
Mr Sorensen joined CSIRO's Data61 in July 2017 and is Group Leader for Enterprise Relationships Defence and National Security. He leads Data61 relationships with large enterprises, Defence and Australian Intelligence Community agencies, DSTG, overseas orgs such as DARPA and Defence Industry Primes/SMEs.
Prior to joining Data61, Mr Sorensen designed Defence Innovation Hub programs, led Queensland Innovation Hub, co-established the Chair in Digital Economy at QUT for PwC with the Qld Government and City of Brisbane. He ran PwC’s Open Innovation business in close collaboration with Qld Government and research organisations.
Mr Sorensen has 23 years’ experience advising governments, corporates and other organisations on strategy and innovation, working internationally and across industries. He has held executive leadership roles for strategy and digital innovation with Australia’s oldest public companies (ASX:AAC, ASX:GOW), has advised early stage technology start-up funds and ventures and has been a commercial leader in global technology business, Kazaa. Mr Sorensen is an advisor to deep-technology start-ups and developed the PwC Disruptive Innovation Leadership course offered by the QUT Graduate School of Business.
